How Gloria Bartel & Ligia Lanni Met — and Why It Felt Meant to Be

For Gloria Bartel and Ligia Lanni, it didn’t begin in a boardroom or through business networking.
It began in Roberts Creek, at a mutual friend’s birthday celebration — a night filled with music, laughter, and the kind of joy that stays with you long after the last song ends.
The atmosphere was warm and vibrant. And at one point, all the women gathered together and began dancing as one — carefree and radiant — to a Brazilian song that seemed to carry its own kind of magic.
It was more than entertainment.
It was one of those rare moments that lifts your spirit.
It All Started With a Dance

But a moment of joy… a song… a dance… and a name that carried meaning long before anyone could have planned.

A Name That Carried Meaning
When Gloria and Ligia were introduced, something deeply personal happened.
The moment Gloria said her name, Ligia’s eyes filled with tears.
Gloria was the name of Ligia’s grandmother — a woman who was deeply loved, and whose memory remains close to Ligia’s heart. Her grandmother would have turned 100 in the same year Gloria and Ligia launched Luxury Gold Curators, making the moment feel even more meaningful.
After her grandmother passed, Ligia and her family even bought a boat and named it “Gloria,” keeping her presence in their lives in a beautiful way.
Ligia had never met another Gloria before that evening.
So in that moment, it didn’t feel like a simple introduction.
It felt meaningful.
Almost familiar.
The Message That Made Gloria Laugh
After the party, still glowing from the energy of the evening, Ligia sent Gloria a message.
And with it, she sent a photo of her feet — dirty and swollen from dancing barefoot all night.
It was funny, unexpected, and completely unforgettable.
Gloria burst out laughing.
Because that is Ligia — genuine, spontaneous, and wonderfully real.
And from that moment forward, everything felt easy.

She had been speaking with a tour operator in Mexico and exploring the possibility of partnering with a local golf event planner.
And almost without thinking, she invited Ligia to join a Zoom call.
It wasn’t planned.
It wasn’t strategic.
It was instinct.
But when the opportunity didn’t unfold the way Gloria had hoped…
Something better appeared.
Instead of disappointment, there was clarity.
Gloria and Ligia looked at each other and realized:
Why not create something of their own?

Meet The Founders
Gloria Bartel | Founder
Gloria brings a rare blend of luxury lifestyle expertise, wellness leadership, and business excellence. She was the co-owner and operator of two McDonald’s restaurants, where she led high-level operations, marketing, and event planning — building strong leadership, precision, and world-class service standards.
Her career also includes wardrobe and image styling, interior décor consulting, and spa project development and design in Vancouver and Europe, giving her a refined eye for elevated environments and five-star guest experience.
Through years of international life accompanying her husband on diplomatic postings, Gloria developed a global appreciation for culture, discretion, and truly exceptional travel.
She is also a Certified Transformational Coach and Whole Food Nutritionist, known for a holistic approach to wellbeing. Gloria served as a private whole-food chef for a prominent philanthropist, curating wellness-focused cuisine with the highest level of care, quality, and discretion.

Ligia is an architect and specialist in architectural lighting design, with a refined creative eye and a calm, thoughtful way of seeing the world. She has a natural gift for creating atmosphere — the kind that feels peaceful, elevated, and quietly luxurious.
After building her professional foundation in Brazil, Ligia immigrated to Canada and continued expanding her career internationally, bringing her design vision to diverse cultural and architectural environments.
Her portfolio spans residential, commercial, healthcare, institutional, and ultra–high-end luxury projects, and her work is defined by technical precision, emotional sensitivity, and a deep understanding of how light shapes human experience.
Ligia’s work has received international recognition, including publication in LD+A Magazine. She is also an active member of the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) and serves as a Board Director for Women in Lighting + Design (WILD) Vancouver.
Beyond design, Ligia is deeply passionate about wellness, with strong knowledge in holistic skincare, pure ingredients, and premium essential oils. She brings a grounded, positive mindset and an intentional calm that elevates every experience she curates.
